Above all, the Ringo collection is a brave design: a large pendant or ceiling lamp that accentuates material rather than form. Essentially, it’s a basic geometric shape in volume but its material is astonishing, resembling a block of ice, at the same time both solid and weightless. Its designer, Joan Gaspar, has used transparent polycarbonate to create optical reflections, giving the impression of an organic design made out of glass. Its large size is in keeping with its function, since it’s been designed to illuminate large and considerably high spaces, contemporary architectural projects ranging from hotels to contract, in which a lot of light is required. Its transparency means that it blends in readily and harmonizes with the space, also when repeated. A design with an innovative proposal: its shade distributes and regulates the direct light homogeneously whilst also revealing what’s happening inside.
